I have often asked myself why it is important to become our best selves. We owe it to ourselves, as well as to others, to live the life that God intends for us to live. If we want to live our best lives and contribute to our community, we first must understand what is our “why.” They say the two most important days in a person’s life is, the day they were born and the day they found the reason why. God did not create us to sit, but rather to be sent. Sent out into the world to help make it a better place. Often we are not sure what is our why or purpose exactly. Sometimes it takes life’s trials and tribulations, to help us transition so we can transform our lives to become triumphant and walk into the life we were meant to live. The more we know the more we can grow. When we become clear about our “why” it will open the doors necessary for us to live out our purpose.
This past weekend a program I started called, “Season of Greatness” brought together 40 talented, successful, and professional women to network, learn from one another, and encourage each other in the pursuit of greatness. When we encourage each other to walk in greatness, everyone we encounter benefits and becomes uplifted. Seeking one’s greatness is also about serving others and not just about personal glory. When you truly understand your “why” you are blessed, and you are blessed to become a blessing to others. Walking in our true purpose allows us to live a life that brings fulfillment and joy.
Too often when we experience frustration and turmoil it is because we are not being true and honest with ourselves and doing what we were called to do. Sometimes it takes others, such as family, community, mentors, and coaches to help us really uncover what is beneath the surface in our lives that we fail to notice. Our community, our kitchen cabinet, and our advisors can collectively help us become our best selves. Too many times we let past mistakes hold us back from the future that is yet before us. Anne Frank said, “Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with basic goodness.” Do not let your past hold you back.
I have learned from personal experience that what we see as mistakes or bad choices are what God can use to help others on their journey. God uses life’s bruises. When we are willing to become open and share not only what happened to us in our lives, but how we were able to overcome and make it to the other side is how God is able to use us. Some of us just get a little stuck and need someone to show us how to not give up and keep moving forward. If we are not careful life has a way of passing us by before we ever get a chance to live out our true meaning and find our season of greatness. There is so much beauty in knowing we all have greatness and that we can help others find their greatness. Do not let fear or the opinion of others cheat you out of achieving your greatness. Why is it important for us to seek our greatness? Because it is not just for you. The world needs you to show up and bring what only you can bring. #SeasonofGreatness #CoachWendy #YourWhy
